Do ferrets go well with cats?

Cats and ferrets can make a good team Unlike cats and guinea pigs or cats and rabbits, cats and ferrets can get along quite well. These two species are similar in several ways: They’re both hunters, obligate carnivores, and crepuscular. Ferrets can even be trained to use a litter box!

Why does my ferret keep attacking my cat?

Yes, it could be domination behavior or it could be play behavior. It is generally not a good idea to mix kittens with adult ferrets because ferrets often play roughly and can injure the kitten. If she is hurting the kitten or being too rough then you will need to keep them separated until the kitten is an adult.

For most mice poisons, a cat or dog will not notice the poison in time to throw it up. Even eating one poisoned animal, especially for a cat, can be enough to kill your pet or cause permanent or very expensive to fix damage. Poisoned mice tend to be slower and weaker, easy prey for your pets.

Do cats really kill and eat mice?

Most house cats are less likely to kill mice than feral cats because they neither have to hunt any further than their food bowls to survive nor do they have access to many small creatures. Kittens can be taught to hunt mice, but the natural inclination of house cats to actually kill is diminished.

Will a cat kill a large rat?

Can squirrels kill a cat?

Squirrels are a pretty tough bunch. If your cat is killing them, it’s likely that they’ve been infected with something (fleas, ticks, mites, and accompanying diseases) such that the squirrels are weak and easy prey. That said, you might want to keep your cat away from them by keeping it inside.
