Why don t electronics work after getting wet?

Technically, it is not water that destroys electronics, it is the small ions that are dissolved in water. Water evaporates when it comes in contact with dry air. So to dry liquids fast, it is best to have as much of it exposed to air as possible.

How does water damage affect electronics?

The water does not automatically destroy devices, but it can trigger problems. Water can cause corrosion, a chemical reaction, with metal and the circuit board. Electronics can often function with some corrosion, but you may notice issues or complete failure over time.

Can you submerge electronics in water?

Yes you can although I don’t see any reason for you to do that! Without any power attachment and submerging it under water, will no short the circuit. But it’s highly recommend that you blow dry everything to completely remove water before connecting it with power.

Why does water ruin electronics but not alcohol?

Alcohols don’t contain dissolved ionic impurities in as high concentrations as those found in water. Since alcohol evaporates faster than water, the possibility of alcohol lingering around long enough to cause damage to electronic components is eliminated.

Do not use high or direct heat such as from a hair dryer or in the oven as this will damage the unit (especially the LCD screen). Leave the item in a well-ventilated area to dry. Speed up the process with use of a small fan if desired. Let the item air dry for at least a day or two.
