What should a Christian think about evolution?

Christians believed that God had created humans ‘in his own image’, that humans were superior to all other creatures and had a soul that is immortal. The theory of evolution challenged the idea that God is the designer of the universe and that the beauty, order and complexity of the universe is evidence of this ( the design argument).

While many Christians have little or no trouble reconciling their faith with the ideas of evolution, others believe that evolution threatens the core of the Christian belief system. These fundamentalists oppose evolution and instead believe that God created the world and everything in it during a literal six day period .

Is evolution really compatible with Christianity?

The compatibility of evolution with Christianity truly depends on how literally a Christian interprets the Bible . Someone who keeps to a strict, purely literal interpretation will not be able to mesh the millennia required for evolution to work with the week-long creation of the universe described in Genesis.

A person that believes in Christ and believes in evolution can still be saved. This is good news to many Christians who do believe in evolution and in God. A person is saved by their faith in Christ and that believer can not lose their salvation or not be saved despite their belief in evolution.

Can you be religious and still believe in evolution?

Certainly , as long as ‘evolution’ refers not to some secular philosophy, but to the biological theory describing how God has created all living things. This explains why the vast majority of Christians who are active in biological research today have no problem with incorporating evolutionary theory within their belief in God as creator.
