It is your choice but I wouldn’t. a depressed person is already going through enough. If your close friends with someone who has depression, it is likely that you’ll hurt them by breaking the friendship. If the person is being violent on the other hand, yes end the friendship.

From there, the friend may think, “ If my support was helping, my friend wouldn’t still be depressed ” and this leads them to give up on the friendship completely. It may feel like the depressed friend is pulling away from the friendship. But this is usually a symptom of the depression itself.

If You can’t give advices, just listen to him. People who has depression needs someone to talk to, and support. Your friend needs support, help him get through depression, don’t cut the friendship. He needs someone, he really needs someone. Friends are supposed to be in joy and sadness right?
