Is merino wool more expensive than wool?

It also means that it lasts a whole lot longer, requires less washing and has a number of other benefits. Merino undoubtedly is more expensive than many other natural fibres, but worth it for those who value the extreme comfort, the durability, high performance and sustainable practices.

Why merino wool is bad?

Because merino sheep have been bred over time to have unnaturally large folds in their skin. The more skin, the more wool. Unfortunately, this causes severe problems on many levels: All that extra wool makes them hot, and they can collapse from heat exhaustion.

Is Merino worth the money?

Merino wool clothing is just as lightweight as synthetics but hard wearing, versatile, breathable, odor resistant and represents a great investment over time. It’s also good for the environment as wool is naturally renewable – providing we keep feeding the sheep, recyclable and completely biodegradable.

Angora wool
Angora wool is exceptionally soft and possess the highest heat retention of any natural fiber (two-and-a-half times warmer than sheep’s wool). It also has the best moisture-wicking properties of any natural fiber.

Why is merino wool so soft?

So soft to wear Merino is also softer than other wools: its fibers are ultra-fine (about a third of the diameter of human hair.) It’s not prickly like other wool – because it’s so fine, the natural fibers can’t stand up to their own weight, making them bend and feel super soft and gentle against your skin.

Why is merino wool good?

Merino is 100\% natural. It’s renewable, sustainable and biodegradable. Merino is better in blankets and clothing because the long staple (fiber length) creates a very good yarn and the fiber is thinner (fewer microns) so consequently feels softer to the touch whilst still being relatively hardwearing.
