Having a contrary existence in Medicine Hat, Alberta took some getting used to. Not that I ever really got used to it. That said, I learned a lot from this year. I learned how to be alone and not be lonely.

Yet, and I’m sure I’ll someday look back on this time of my life with rose-colored glasses, I hesitate to paint my time in Medicine Hat as a love story. The truth is that despite the initial mayhem and adventures, this was one of the tamest years of my life.
What is it like to live in a hat?
Hard to say since im not a person of colour so not so attuned to the things you may notice, but having lived in the hat for 2 years it is a dreadful bore and no nightlife whatsoever. Be friendly and you’ll get friendly back personally I think the worst you’d get is a look of curiosity and surprise (oh look a dark guy, neat) than one of racism.
