Is Korean easier to read than Japanese?

Can you read Japanese with only hiragana?

It’s used on its own or in conjunction with kanji to form words, and it’s the first form of Japanese writing that children learn. Written on its own and without kanji, it’s a bit hard to read and child-like, and can only be read with some effort. But, it’s fine to write in only hiragana if you are a beginner learner.

Is Katakana easier than hiragana?

Most importantly, katakana characters look more similar in shape to one another than hiragana, so memorizing katakana could be more difficult. However, some may argue that hiragana is too difficult to write. Katakana is easier to “draw” because the structure of the katakana character is usually more simple.

It is actually possible to write anything in Japanese using only Hiragana and Katakana which are the phonetic systems. Kanji are ideograms, so they do not represent specific sounds but ideas. In Latin languages, kanjis would be like the root meanings of the words.

Is it better to learn katakana or hiragana first?

Therefore, if you learn hiragana first, it will be easier for you to understand the pronunciation of various Japanese sounds. As stated in the beginning, katakana has most of the borrowed words that the Japanese language uses. This point further establishes the fact that you should learn hiragana first.

Is Japanese or Korean more difficult?

Some parts are harder for Korean while other parts are harder for Japanese. However, considering the larger number of sounds and the different particles in Korean, Japanese is definitely the easier language to start in.
