No, you must roll before doing any trades or builds. On your turn, you can do the following in the order listed: You must roll for resource production (the result applies to all players). You may trade resource cards with other players and/or use maritime trade.
Can settlements be next to each other Catan?
Only one settlement or city can be at each intersection, and only one road can be on each path. That rule states that settlements must be at least two intersections away from any other settlement or city. In other words, settlements cannot be built one space away from another settlement or city.
Can you break up a road with a settlement in Catan?
Yes, settlements do break up other player’s roads. If the blue player has a road that is six segments long, and the red player builds a settlement between two of the blue roads, than we say that the blue player’s road is “broken”. A broken road can not be counted for the Longest Road card.
What happens when you roll 7 in Catan?
If you roll a 7 on your turn in Catan, you activate the robber. Any player that has more than seven resource cards in their hand must return half of them (rounded down) to the resource stacks. As they are a robber, you also get to steal a resource at random from a player with a settlement next to the number you cover.
Can you build a settlement next to someone else’s settlement?
No. If you build a new road, it must always connect to one of your own roads, settlements, or cities. In the situation depicted above, the blue player would not be connecting his road piece to his own road but to the red player’s settlement, which the rule prohibits.

The Longest Road is a special card included in Catan and is worth 2 victory points. The first player to have 5 or more continuous road segments, from one point to another without doubling back, may claim this card. If a different player gains a longer continuous road, they may claim the card from the current holder.
Can I build after rolling a 7 Catan?
Yes you can do anything after roling a 7. You won’t get any new resources. If you have too much, you must return some.
Can you play a knight after rolling a seven?
Yes, that is legal. You may play the knight at any time during your turn, including before rolling. Yes you can. There is no restriction on playing a Knight card if you have already moved the Robber via a roll of ‘7’.
