Marvel won the right to the trademark of ‘Captain Marvel’. In 1972, DC bought the rights to Fawcett comic’s character and returned him to print, renamed ‘Shazam’. They didn’t. His name is still Captain Marvel. They only call the comic books he appears in “Shazam”.
