Can sea lice live in fresh water?

Sea lice attach themselves to most adult salmon as they swim through fertile lice grounds on their return to rivers to spawn. Sea lice can not survive for long in fresh water. A fish with lice is fresh but if the lice have tails (the longer the better for some freaky reason) we think that is a super ocean fresh fish.

Does freshwater kill sea lice?

Freshwater. Freshwater is sometimes adequate to kill the sea lice and as salmon eventually swim in fresh water, they are not harmed.

They have the same stinging cells that are in full-grown jellyfish but, because of their size, they can sneak under swimsuits and stick to bodies. Sea lice tend to be found in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico from March through August.
