Your retainers should be worn full-time except for eating and drinking for the first 2 weeks after fitting. The retainers should then be worn 10 hours a day, most patients wear them at night. Please seat your retainer by pressing with your fingers. DO NOT bite into position as this will crack/break your retainer.

What happens if I forget to wear my retainer for one night?

However, if you only forget to wear your retainer for a night, likely the visible appearance of your teeth won’t change right away but can if this continues to happen.

Yes it will make a difference. You need to wear your retainer 24/7 for the first 2 years after your braces come off then at night only for as long as you want straight teeth. After the first two years you can take short breaks from them once in a wile.
