Can you use expired EDTA tube?

EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) is the most commonly used anticoagulant in evacuated tubes. So EDTA acts as chelating agent. This chemical does not distort blood cells, making it ideal for hematology use. If EDTA is expired then Calcium will not chelate & cell morphology will not be preserved.

Can I use expired heparin?

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and the label. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Heparin injection should not be given if it shows signs of deterioration such as discolouration.
