Typically, Catholics will depict a cross with Jesus’ body on it. This is referred to as a crucifix, and is intended to remind us of Jesus’ suffering on our behalf. Protestants prefer to use a cross without showing Jesus’ body on it, in order to focus on the fact that Jesus was resurrected, thus he is no longer dead.
