The Woodlore Knife was originally designed by Ray Mears and is hand-made by Alan Wood, one of the world’s finest knife-makers. Ray had used many different types of knives before, all of which proved unsuitable for Bushcraft.

Is a flat grind good for bushcraft?
I really love a good flat grind, because it is somewhat of a mix between a saber and a scandi grind. Because the edge is so thin, it has similar performance but the downside of the flat grind is the durability. Even with a super steel, you can still roll the edge or damage the steel from heavy bushcraft use.

Are Scandi grinds good?
The Scandi grind is probably the best choice for wood work, shelter building, fire making and general survival situations. It has better edge retention and is easy to sharpen in the field. A saber grind falls somewhere in between a flat grind and Scandi grind.
Is the Condor bushlore a good survival knife?
The Condor Bushlore survival knife only came up on my radar a few months ago but I’ve been nothing short of impressed with it since adding this knife to my collection. I’d read a few shining reviews of this knife and those reviews combined with the extremely reasonable $40 price tag sealed the deal for me.

Joe Flowers, the designer of the Condor Bushlore, did a great job and I think the amount of performance relative to its size tells you how much serious thought went into designing the knife. Definitely designed by a real outdoorsman and not just a desk jockey trying to capitalize on the bushcraft trend!
