When Scrum Master is on leave?

If the Scrum Master is taking a one week vacation, the chances are that the Development Team can continue on with the status quo. A replacement is not likely to be necessary. However, in the event the Scrum Master is taking a few weeks off, you will want to have someone else fill in.

Can a Scrum Master remove a development team member?

The Scrum Guide does not explicitly state that the Scrum Master can remove someone from the Scrum Team. But a Scrum Master should concern him- or herself primarily with those impediments that endanger the Sprint Goal and transcend the ability of the Development Team to solve on their own.

As a general rule, a skilled Scrum Master can work effectively with 2 to 3 teams. However, there are a few caveats with this generalization. The first caveat is that I’m assuming that this individual is focused on the Scrum Master role full-time.

At the end of a Sprint, the new Increment must be “Done,” which means it must be in useable condition and meet the Scrum Team’s definition of “Done.” It must be in useable condition regardless of whether the Product Owner decides to actually release it.
