Crips, street gang based in Los Angeles that is involved in various illegal activities, notably drug dealing, theft, extortion, and murder. The group, which is largely African American, is traditionally associated with the color blue.

Is Folk a Crip?
For many years, the two gangs were banded together through Folk Nation’s countrywide alliance, a grouping of Folk and Crip sets that forms one of the nation’s most powerful gangs. Folk “mobs” are prevalent in parts of the Midwest and throughout Chicago, where the gang was formed in the prison system in 1978.
