BUT, he managed to attached the stone to his hammer. By doing so he was able to ‘harness’ the Infinity Stone’s power. Like how Thanos uses the Infinity Gauntlet to wield all the Infinity Stones.

It is my belief that Ronan would have been destroyed by the Power Stone if he had of held it for much longer, which is why he embedded it into his hammer.
