Do you have to trim your locs?
NO, you should not trim the fuzzy ends off of your locs. Especially, if you’ve just started your loc journey, within the last 24 months, or if you have fine or loose curly hair. The bud at the end of your locs is what will hold in all the shed hairs from the root down, thus allowing “locs” to take shape.
What is a good number of locs?
81 TO 100 DREADS: This seems to be an acceptable amount of dreads for those with thin hair, although I personally wouldn’t go much higher than 100. If you have thick hair, this amount of locs will give you medium-thin dreads.
Are dreads heavy?
They are very heavy. Especially when wet. My locks are waist length and they are heavy, so it amazes me to see him deal with his long mane on a daily basis, lol. When washing my locks they are a lot heavier because they suck up seemingly twice their weight in water, and take about 2 days to to dry naturally.
Why are my locs so frizzy?
When your hair is damaged, whether from heat damage or chemical damage, this causes your hair to have a high porosity level which results in a lack of moisture retention. Consequently, when your hair is lacking moisture it causes the hair to constantly remain in a state of frizz.
How many locs is a full head?
The average number of locs for an adult head ranges 40 to 110 depending on what size they are. Your hair volume and size loc you want determines how many bundles you need.
Should I cover my dreads when I sleep?
Should you cover your dreadlocks when you sleep? We recommend covering your dreadlocks while you sleep. You’ll minimize the risk of breakage. If you toss and turn while sleeping but your dreadlocks are exposed, you might accidentally pull them during the night.
Can bugs live in dreadlocks?
While it is possible to get lice, spiders and other bugs will not live in dreads unless you are comatose. Lice are preventable by applying tea tree oil to the dreads and scalp.
