Why did it take Boromir so long to get to Rivendell?

It took him 110 days. Taking into account that Rivendell was closer to Gondor than the Shire and that Mordor is further, that’s still a pretty fast journey on foot and on horseback. Assuming 12 miles per day and that he didn’t need to spend much time foraging, Boromir arrived about as fast as he possibly could have.
