Are introverts discriminated against?

A society that asks introverts to change themselves to have more extroverted qualities is destructive and discriminatory. However, this form of discrimination is rarely visible to most people. This is the way our contemporary culture has always been, and introverts rarely express their experiences for fear of ridicule.

The truth is pretty simple: Being an introvert is normal and healthy. 30 to 50 percent of the population is introverted. Being an introvert does not mean you’re shy or have social anxiety.

Why do people disrespect introverts?

They don’t understand that the introvert has no need for constant stimulation and social activity, they dont understand that introverts dislike small talk and “hanging out”. This makes them uncomfortable when around one because they mistakenly believe the introvert is weird or awkward or whatever.

Why does society look down on introverts?

People look down on us because society tells us to favor outgoing extroverted people. Simply I see people who look down on introverts as brainwashed by society. Also, having an introverted personality doesn’t harm anyone, so there is no reason to have a problem with quiet people.

Causes of Introversion Researchers have found that introverts have a higher blood flow to their frontal lobe than extroverts do. This part of the brain helps you remember things, solve problems, and plan ahead. Introvert brains also react differently to dopamine than extrovert brains do.

Is being an introvert a mental illness?

The key here is to remember that assessment and classification of personality types are not intended to define or judge a person. Introversion is merely one of many possible healthy personality types and is not a disorder.
