Will hotels ever let you check in early?

While most hotels will try to accommodate your request to check-in early as best they can, in most cases it just comes down to availability. Finding the perfect room at a hotel can be challenging at times, so if you do find a room you love, you may want to sacrifice it for an earlier check-in.

How do I get a hotel room secretly?

You simply call the hotel in question, make a reservation under one name and ask that your real name only be used on the billing. That way, if anyone (except law enforcement who would likely check in person anyway) calls they will not find out that you are staying at the hotel.

Why do hotels check in at 3?

You can check into your room as soon as it is cleaned. Most hotels promise that they will have your room cleaned and ready to move in by 3PM. Your room may be available earlier, especially if you tell the hotel in advance that you need an early check-in.

Can you check in late to a hotel?

Yes, you can check in to a hotel late at night, but what is considered to be late will depend on the size of the hotel. You don’t need to notify large hotels just because you won’t be there for a few hours after 3 pm. You can even walk in to a large hotel after midnight and book and check into a hotel on the spot.

Why do hotels want you to book direct?

Customer service: If something goes wrong with your trip or your stay, you’ll get better customer service if you book directly through the hotel. That’s because hotels give priority to reservations made directly with them since they didn’t have to pay a commission fee.

Do hotels care if you have guests?

Hotels do not care for the most part. I’m not advocating people to escape a third person charge, but it shouldn’t get in the way of guests living their life and enjoying their hotel stay either. That said, hotels do want to know the occupancy of the hotel in case of an emergency – to account for all the guests.

Can you use a fake name at a hotel?

It is entirely legal to check into a hotel under a different name. The hotel may need confirmation of your actual identity but they will adhere to the name that you have registered in when booking your room. Choose a pseudonym, a name that is anonymous and would not really be noticed.

Can you get into a hotel without ID?

You do not need identification to book a reservation. A credit card will hold it for you. However, upon check-in, most hotels do require identification.

What questions should I ask when booking a hotel room?

Here are 10 questions to ask when booking a hotel room. Does the price reflect all fees and taxes? There might be resort fees, cleaning fees, booking fees and other pesky hidden fees and taxes. Ask if the price you are quoted includes all of those. If it doesn’t, ask if you can have the added fees waived.

How do hotel rooms work when someone else books a room?

Someone books a room after you and requests the same room type but close to an elevator. They do this because they are in a wheelchair and its easier for them to access the rest of the hotel. The hotel will then go into the reservation and change your room from 1 to 2 and give the other person room 1.

How do hotel rooms get assigned to you?

Most of the time the property management system (POS) will assign a random room with your booking requirements. However, this room may change if someone requests certain attributes of their room. For example, let’s say there are two rooms in the hotel you book, room 1 and 2. Room 1 was automatically assigned to you and is near the elevator.

What to do if a hotel doesn’t have a room available?

If you have a hotel that is showing no rooms available, or really high rates, or lack of availability of certain special needs rooms (pet-friendly, accessible, kid-friendly, etc.), you should call the hotel and ask directly.
