Will EU students pay international fees in 2021?

EU students who have started or are due to start at a university or further education institution by 31 July 2021 have ‘home fee status’ in the UK. This means they pay the same tuition fees as students from the part of the UK where their university is located (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales).

Do EU students count as international students?

International Students If you do not fall under the home fee definition, then you will be classed as an international student. From 1 August 2021, new EU students will also pay international tuition fees.

The UK will not participate in the Erasmus+ programme after the end of the current cycle and will develop a new UK mobility programme the Turing Scheme.

EU students and students from the EEA-EFTA or Switzerland who start a new course in England, Scotland or Wales after August 2021 will no longer be eligible for home fee status. Instead, each UK university will set its own fees for EU students.

What are the new immigration rules for EU students in UK?

In addition to facing international tuition fees, with no financial support, under new immigration rules, EU students will after 30 June 2021 have to obtain a student visa (currently £348) and pay an international healthcare surcharge (£470 per annum).
