Why is Young Griff not in the show?

Supposedly GRRM visited the set during Season one and spoke with the producers. He made it clear that Jon and Dany were the two essential characters whose stories had to converge so they left Young Griff out because the resolution to his arc will come in Winds of Winter.

Is Young Griff an imposter?

Aegon (Little Griff) is not actually the baby of Rhaegar Targaryen and Elia Martell, but is a Blackfyre impostor that Varys and Illyrio Mopatis are propping up as a real Targaryen. He is descended from the female Blackfyre line (all the males were killed).

Is there another Targaryen in the books?

The only Targaryens alive during Game of Thrones were Viserys, Daenerys, Jon, and Maester Aemon. In the books, there may just be another one: Aegon Targaryen, the son of Rhaegar and Elia Martell.

The most obvious reasoning behind Game of Thrones cutting Aegon Targaryen is that it came too late in the day. If the show were to include him, then it would’ve had to introduce him during season 5, which marked the point where they started to veer away from the books in more pronounced ways than ever before.

However, some readers have the theory that Young Griff is in truth a Blackfyre, a descendant of Daemon I Blackfyre, a bastard of Aegon IV who started a rebellion against the Iron Throne like his offsprings which resulted in more than one battle.
