But God loves us despite our sins! He made us, and He knows that when we live apart from Him, we’ll always be empty and unfulfilled inside. The Bible says, “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:10).

In the dictionary, grace is defined as courteous goodwill. Meaning, it’s not asked for nor deserved, but is freely given. Mercy, on the other hand, is the compassion and kindness shown to someone whom it is in one’s power to punish or harm. It is an act meant to relieve someone of their suffering.

Why do we need God’s grace and mercy?

Through God’s grace, we can have the assurance of our salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. The Spirit of God lives within us and guides us and comforts us and assures us that we now belong to Christ because He has forgiven us.
