Unfortunately EXO are not given total freedom to write their own songs completely, but members do often help with writing lyrics or producing. And they definitely write their own songs outside of the group. Chanyeol has written many songs and posts them on his soundcloud and Lay writes songs which can be found in his solo albums.
Does babaekhyun write his own songs?
Baekhyun has helped Chanyeol compose certain songs, and contributed to writing some of them as well. One of them is Lucky, a song he wrote with Chanyeol. He doesn’t contribute as much as Chen and Chanyeol, but it’s a start. Lay writes, composes, produces, translates, and choreographs all his solo songs. He helped Chanyeol and Chen write Lightsaber.
