Where should I live if I go to Stanford University?

Palo Alto is by no means a huge city, but it has become quite a recognizable place around the country. Not only is the city home to the headquarters of many influential tech companies, but it is also home of Stanford University, one of the most respected and historic academic institutions in the world.

Over 90\% of undergrads live in dorms on campus. Those who live off campus are mostly grad students. I have known some grad students who live in SF, San Jose, or East Palo Alto, but most people living off campus will live in Menlo Park, Palo Alto, or Mountain View.

Which Stanford dorm is best?

Roble, Toyon: gorgeous historic halls in the heart of campus.

  • Stern, Wilbur: older uninspired architecture with some cramped doubles, but good density and community feel.
  • Of course, you can be in the skunkiest dorms on campus and still prefer it to any other depending on who lives there.

Do Stanford dorms have their own bathrooms?

The majority of campus housing is co-ed by corridor and the majority of rooms for first-year and new transfer students are single-gender, i.e. roommates are of the same gender. Every residence with first-year students will have at least one bathroom designated for men, one for women, and one that is all-gender.

    Do Stanford dorms have bathrooms?

There are dorms consisting mostly of “two room doubles” (each person has their own room, but they share an entrance), and the bathroom is down the hall. There are options where you live in a suite where the bathrooms are shared by only a few roommates. There are apartments, where you’ll have a private bathroom.

Which city is Stanford close to?

    City of Palo Alto
Although the University is virtually a community unto itself and even has its own zip code—94305—it calls the City of Palo Alto home. Downtown Palo Alto is a short walk from campus and includes many attractions, as well as many shops and restaurants.
