The elevated position of the Brahmans goes back to the late Vedic period, when the Indo-European-speaking settlers in northern India were already divided into Brahmans (or priests), warriors (of the Kshatriya class), traders (of the Vaishya class), and labourers (of the Shudra class).

Do Brahmins have different DNA?

The ancient geographical origins of Brahmins—a prominent ethnic group in the Indian subcontinent—have remained controversial for a long time. The results showed that Brahmins had genetic affinities with several foreign populations and also shared their genetic heritage with several domestic non-Brahmin groups.

The Aryans organised themselves in three groups. The first group was of the warriors and they were called Rajanya, later they changed its name to Kshatriyas. The second group was of the priests and they were called Brahmanas. These two groups struggled politically for the leadership among the Aryans.

In India everybody has Dravidian blood including Nairis. Though Nairs are Naga Scythians and Namboothiris are Aryans they might have acquired some Dravidian blood from the natives in the last 1200 yrs. All Indian of diverse origins including Anglo Indians have Dravidian blood and look dark.
