External graphics can be used with a laptop by using external Graphic Card Enclosures like the Razer Core V2, But using such an enclosure may cost alot, which is pretty unsuitable for such circumstances, by the money you will spend on such enclosures, I will suggest you to sell your Ideapad and buy a newer piece of hardware w/ a discrete GPU.

Can I use an eternal GPU with my laptop?

You can use an eternal GPU if the laptop has a thunderbolt 3 over a usb-c connection through an enclosure like Razer core or alienware amplifier. But these are very costly and the port speed could be a bottleneck. Another option would be DIY.
