Do soldiers throw away empty mags?

Why do soldiers hit magazine on helmet?

Why do soldiers put tape on their guns?

Why are bullets called magazines?

Magazine comes from an Arabic word meaning ‘storeroom,’ so the usage of the word to refer to a place where bullets are held for a gun or where ammunition is kept in a battleship makes complete sense.

Do soldiers carry loose ammo?

Depends on how clued up a soldier you are. Normally, you would always only carry magazined ammo with some boxed rounds for replenishing magazines. You might have extra ammo in stripper clips, too. However, a few TRACER rounds carried loose are useful for target indication – but you don’t want them rattling.
