It absolutely is possible to learn multiple dance styles. Growing up I learned Tap, Ballet, and Jazz. That later became Ballet and Modern Dance as my areas of expertise as I studied in my university days. I performed in both those areas of technique.

Is it possible to learn salsa alone?

There is no reason you can’t practice salsa without a partner. In fact, it’s one of the best ways to get better at salsa dancing. Yes, salsa is a partner dance, but you absolutely must be able to hold your own if you want to have fun, free your mind and be in the moment.

Yes, usually I recommend three to four dances for people to start with in the beginning. The good thing about it is you will be able to just focus on one dance and be able to learn lots of moves for that just one dance and not get confused by any other styles of dancing.

It needs to be automatic before you even think about moving on to the next pattern to learn. Ladies, this is the first turn you need to master in the salsa. Just take your time learning it and take it one step at a time. Be precise in your movements and your steps. Speed will eventually come!

The Salsa “On 1” style has a complexity that is exciting and contagious. It has a big Swing influence incorporated into its styling, with a powerful look and fast movement. Other types of dance are also influencers of this style, including jazz, hip hop and ballroom, becoming challenging for the dancers, but entertaining to the observer.
