Can foreigners stay in any hotel in China?

The rule is different. Foreigners can reside only in hotels that have the adequate certificates to host foreigners. This works for hotels and sauna centers (talking about legal ones). Any Chinese place that provides overnight accommodations, HAS TO REGISTER all guests (foreigners and local).

Why can’t foreigners stay in Chinese hotels?
