Would the Ring affect the Valar?
Imprisoning the Ring would not stop Sauron from dominating Middle-earth. He had already divided and weakened or destroyed his most powerful enemies in Middle-earth. On the other hand, if the Valar destroyed the Ring they would be killing Sauron. They had slain Maiar (other members of the Ainur) before.
Why didn’t Gandalf or Elrond take the Ring to Valinor and destroy it there couldn’t the Valar destroy the Ring with all their powers?
The very reason Gandalf was sent in the first place was to help the people of Middle Earth deal with their own problems. Taking the Ring to Valinor would break the deal and force the Valar to get involved. The Valar left the physical planet so that the fate of the world would no longer be their direct responsibility.
How many Palantiri are there?
The palantíri (singular palantír), also known as the Seven Stones or the Seven Seeing-stones, were spherical stone objects used for communication in Middle-earth. There were eight distinguished ones in total.

How was Balin killed?
It told how Balin discovered Durin’s Axe, and established a small colony, but it was overrun by orcs and Balin was killed by an orc archer in Dimrill Dale. Thus he died in the same place as his father, having been self-proclaimed Lord of Moria for less than 5 years.

Where did the Council of Valinor take place?
In Valinor, the land of the Valar, a council was called by Manwë, leader of the Valar, shortly after Sauron’s defeat by the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. Though Sauron was overthrown, it would later turn out that he had not been effectively vanquished and his shadow began to fall upon Middle-earth a second time.
What is the conflict between Melkor and Fëanor and the Valar?
He ended his and the Ñoldor’s allegiance with the Valar, and bore a new conflict between the Elves and Melkor. The Valar soon fortified their realm, and brought about the “Hiding of Valinor”, preventing Melkor and Fëanor and his followers from entering.
What are the other names of the Valar?
Other names. The Aratar (Sindarin: Exalted) or High Ones of Arda were the eight greatest of the Valar: Manwë, Varda, Ulmo, Yavanna, Aulë, Mandos, Nienna, and Oromë. Melkor, the most powerful of all, is not counted among them. Lórien and Mandos were brothers, and would be referred to together as the Fëanturi or “Masters of Spirits”.
How did the two trees of Valinor lose their light?
In time, once he returned in secret and ruined the Two Trees of Valinor with Ungoliant, Valinor lost its light, and the Valar eventually set to creating the Sun and Moon in the sky. The War of the Jewels was prompted after Fëanor refused to forfeit his Silmarils to the Valar, for the rekindling of the Two Trees.
