Why is ETH Zurich so cheap?

Public Swiss universities receive significant funding from the government. That’s why tuition fees are more affordable when compared to fees charged by universities from the UK or the US. International students who come to Switzerland on an exchange programme don’t pay any tuition fee.

Is German required in ETH Zurich?

The main teaching language during Bachelor’s degree studies is German. The German language requirements must be fulfilled before the start of the study programme, otherwise the study programme cannot be started. ETH Zurich offers no German courses or language certification examinations.

Compared to other top study destinations, such as the US or UK, tuition fees at universities in Switzerland are relatively low for domestic, EU and international students. At ETH Zurich, current fees for all bachelor’s, master’s and diploma courses currently stand at CHF 730 per semester (~US$760).
