Why do 3rd parties make graphics cards?

The manufacturers are better at, well, manufacturing them. So Nvidia can make a better GPU by spending more effort and resources on designing, and we see more GPUs on the market by allowing the companies to focus on manufacturing rather than designing. In this way, each company does more of what it’s best at.

Why do other companies make Nvidia cards?

They introduce an architecture of the GPU. The other companies manufacture the graphics card based on this architecture. They invent new and powerful GPU’s and the manufacturing is done by companies like zotac, galax, gigabyte, asus.

Why do different manufacturers make the same graphics cards?

So consumer-focused brands will differentiate in other areas. Some might offer blower coolers or open air coolers, some will make their cards shorter so they can fit in more compact cases. Some will try to make their cards stand out with flashy-looking fans and lights.
