The following decision is announced regarding the participation of the Indian team in the International Mathematical Olympiad 2021. This decision has been taken after detailed discussion at various levels of HBCSE, the National Board for Higher Mathematics (DAE), and also in consultation with several senior doctors.
What is the format of the International Mathematics Olympiad?
Before proceeding further, let me briefly educate you on the format of IMO so that you can easily follow the numbers later in the post. Held once a year, more than 100 teams (or countries) participate in IMO with each team comprising of up to six students. The exam consists of six problems – P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, and P6.

Can OCI students participate in the International Mathematical Olympiad?
As per the orders of the Madras High Court, students with OCI status will not be eligible for selection to the Indian team in the International Mathematical Olympiad. However, such students are provisionally eligible for selection at ALL prior stages, up to and including the IMOTC provided they fulfill all other criteria.
