The United Nations, United Kingdom and France are proud to be co-hosting the Climate Ambition Summit 2020, in partnership with Chile and Italy. This is a monumental step on the road to the UK-hosted COP26 next November in Glasgow.

What happened at COP25?

COP-25 was tasked with finalizing the rules of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, i.e. the rules of future international carbon markets, as well as reviewing and strengthening the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage, and concluding various finance-related matters.

Why is COP26 so important?

A key goal of COP26 is securing global net-zero emissions by 2050, which should substantially slow temperature rises. COP26 will provide the framework for countries to work together so that the most affected can prepare. Enacting the Agreement alone will not deliver net zero.
