Do foreigners use NPTEL?

NPTEL began offering open online courses in March 2014 along with certificates from the IITs/IISc for those who completed the courses successfully. It is now possible for ANYONE outside the IIT System to be able to do an online certification course from NPTEL and get a certificate from the IITs.

Are NPTEL lectures worth it?

Yes, studying NPTEL online courses is beneficial. Even, NPTEL certificates have a separate importance in an Engineering student’s journey. NPTEL certificates have the quotations of many IIT’s and have the signature of many respected HOD’s or Dean of IITs.

Who are eligible for NPTEL courses?

NPTEL online courses are open to everyone. The courses in programming, data structures and algorithms are aimed at undergraduate college students (any engineering or science stream) in their 2nd year or above.

How many foreigners are there in IIT?

IIT Delhi, too, has around 98 foreign students but all of them are enrolled in MTech and PhD programmes. In 2020, around 209 Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), 23 Person of Indian Origin (PIO) and 23 foreign national category candidates had appeared for the entrance exam.

Is there any foreign quota in IIT?

No, there is no NRI quota in IITs. NRI students, just like Indian Nationals, have to clear the cut-off for JEE Advanced and admission will happen on the basis of their ranks.

Yes they do, NPTEL is an initiative by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt of India. Which is co sponsered by Google and NASSCOM. I have till date Completed and certified in 4 Programs in NPTEL.

How good is the NPTEL OCW course?

The aim itself deserves 4 stars, the first of its kind in India, there are MIT OCW and Yale courses worldwide but in India NPTEL is the first prominent attempt towards this direction. The videos are very good and helpful, learning from the professors of IITs is a very good experience for any student.

How is the NPTEL course at IIT?

NPTEL will provide you the modern techniques and their courses will be uncomparable as the faculties that will teach you will be of IITs who hold masters in their degrees and they are masters in their field (as they teach IITians). If you want the valuable certificates issued by them you just need to pay a nominal amount of 1k.
