Can you seal a painting with epoxy?
Catch part 1 — my painting tutorial — here. Today, I’m sealing my art with epoxy resin to get a clear, gallery-worthy finish that protects! The whole point of this step is that it protects the art underneath from dust and grime, but I also love this step in the process because it uses FIRE.
Do I need to seal my epoxy resin?
Delicate objects that may be damaged by epoxy resin such as photographs, should be sealed with an alternate clear coat (i.e. polyurethane or acrylic sealers) to protect them prior to embedding. Once the seal coat has set, additional flood coats up to 1/8” thick may be applied.
Is epoxy paint better than enamel?
Epoxy paint is more heavy duty compared to Alkyd based Enamel. Epoxy based coatings will give hard & abrasion resistant film with higher chemical resistance. Epoxy Paint is suited for application where higher corrosion resistance, wear & tear resistance is desired.
How do you seal paint with resin?
To seal the surface, paint on a thin layer of resin and let it dry before you move to the Pour and Spread step. If you want a thick layer of resin on a project, create a barrier (dam) around the edges with masking or painters tape. Press the tape around the entire project. The tape should stick up at least a half inch.
What is epoxy sealer?
Epoxy sealers form a high-build protective film on the concrete surface, producing a hard, long-wearing, abrasion-resistant finish. Epoxy sealers are much harder than acrylics. Water-based epoxies bond well to concrete and provide a clear finish, but they are nonporous and do not allow trapped moisture to escape.
Do you seal spray paint before epoxy?
Before you apply epoxy over the glitter spray seal with an enamel base clear spray. When applying epoxy over the glitter, it’s best to apply a flood coat. Mix more than you typically would for your size tumbler.
