Why is my weight maintaining and not losing?

Most people who have difficulty losing weight are simply eating too many calories. An important factor in weight loss is how many calories you’re eating versus how many calories you’re burning. It may seem easy, but if you’re not tracking your calories each day, you may be consuming more than you think.

If you have been losing half a kilo a week and then for two weeks appear not to have lost any weight, it could simply be that the loss of fat is being hidden by a kilo’s worth of variation. Again, the tape measure is a better guide than the scales.

Unless your weight has been stuck at the same point for more than 1–2 weeks, you probably don’t need to worry about anything. A weight loss plateau may be explained by muscle gain, undigested food, and fluctuations in body water. If the scale doesn’t budge, you might still be losing fat.
