Why do Muslims have different names?

Like the motivations to convert in the first place, the reasons to change or keep one’s name vary from person to person. That said, the majority of Muslims who enter the faith choose to alter their names to mark the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

Do Indians use Arabic names?

Mostly Muslims of India keep Arabic or Persian name. Most of the Muslims in India have Urdu as their mother tongue. As you know Urdu was created with the grammar of Hindi and vocabulary of Persian. Hence the names of Indian Muslims are predominantly Persian.

Which name is common in Hindu and Muslim?

Rudra, Ishaan, Shivay, Rudransh, Shivansh, Krish, Kanha and Madhav are some examples of these. Other popular Hindu names are taken from the scriptures and mythological tales such as Kabir, Arjun, Shlok, Om, Atharv, and Kartikeya. For Muslims, the name of the prophet is the most popular.

Do Muslims have special names?

Muslim from around the world, can name themselves with names of the Prophets mentioned in the Quran. Such as Daud, Ibrahim, Solaiman, or some other Arabic names, like Malaika ( Angels) mentioned in the Quran. This can also be said for Christians and Jews, who do name themselves after Prophets.

Can I change my name in Islam?

Yes. A Muslim could change their name to anything as long as it is not linked to a religion where they do not worship God. For example, if a Muslim lady named Mahbooba doesn’t like her name because it gives her bad looks at job interviews, and she wants to change her name to Mary or Ashley or Susan that is fine.

Is Pakistan Arab?

Pakistani people are citizens of the said country and have lived there with all its multi-ethnicities and cultures. Thus, a Pakistani need not be Arab in lineage. Pakistani is a nationality; therefore, lineage can be of Arab descent or not. Pakistanis are mostly Muslims because Pakistan is a Muslim state.
