As an important religious observance in the Christian world, Lent is the season to observe and commemorate the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the son of God, our Savior and Redeemer. As sinners, we have the ability and capability to be holy only if we allow Christ into our lives.

What is the focus of Lent?

The focus of Lent was always threefold: It was a time to prepare new converts for baptism through intensive classes and instruction. It was a time for long-standing Christians to review their lives and renew their commitment to their beliefs. It was a time for backsliders to be re-indoctrinated into the faith.

Lent, in the Christian tradition, is a period of about six weeks before Easter. It is a time in which Christians are supposed to be quiet and thoughtful, preparing themselves for Easter. They should pray a lot, give money to charities and give up some of the things they might otherwise do for pleasure.
