When you say next week on a Friday?

Next Friday refers to the Friday in next week. If it is Saturday, this Friday was yesterday and next Friday is in 6 days.

What does it mean when you say next Monday?

“next Monday”, then, refers to the second Monday occurring on the calendar in my usage. If I say, “This Monday I’m teaching” or “This Monday I’ll teach,” I mean the next Monday on the calendar. If I say, “This Monday I taught,” I mean the most recent Monday.

How do you say next next Monday?

When I refer to the very next Monday that will occur in the future, I say “next Monday”. Some colleagues refer to it as “this Monday”, with “next Monday” meaning the second Monday which will occur in the future (I would refer to that as “Monday week”, “this Monday” to me would mean the most recent Monday in the past).

That’s come up before. “Within the next week” means within the next 7 days (omitting Today and Tomorrow, which get their own groups).

What is the difference between ‘this Monday’ and ‘next Monday’?

‘This Monday’ is the very next Monday in the calendar. If it’s Sunday, ‘this Monday’ is tomorrow. ‘Next Monday’ is the next but one. If it’s Sunday, ‘next Monday’ is a week tomorrow. I too would take ‘Monday week’ to mean ‘a week on Monday’.

What does it mean when someone says next week?

When one says next week, they could either be referring to this coming Monday through Sunday period, because they would refer to the current Monday through Sunday period as this week. Or, they could be referring to 7-13 days from now. It all depends on what a person is currently meaning by the word week.

Is it correct to say “Monday of the week”?

Most people, however, will simply say “Monday” alone when on the fringes of the weekend, because the context would be enough to mean it’s the Monday of the week coming up. The truth is, the ‘correct’ sense depends a lot on the surrounding context. Any explanation and re-explanation are equally sound.

What does next whateverday mean?

As used in my local area (Great Lakes region of the USA), “Next whateverday” refers to the upcoming day of that name that’s NOT in the current week. “This” would refer to the upcoming day in the current week (assuming user specified future rather than past).
