A saber is more a weapon of war, it’s a good cutter and an OK thruster but it’s meant for the chaos of battle not for the chaos of a duel. A rapier has reach and a complex guard. Given the 6″+ reach advantage and that it can thrust in and out fairly well then yeah I’d go with the rapierist.
