Growing weed is pretty easy, but some strains can be trickier to grow than others. Some are delicate and need a lot of attention or are prone to disease or mold, while others are sturdy and can handle missing a watering for a day or two.

How difficult is it to grow weed indoors?

Growing inside is a bit more complex. A timed lighting apparatus (12 hours on, 12 hours off) is critical to grow the plant and get it to flower. Consider a high-intensity discharge lighting system, or HID, for best results. You will also need an exhaust fan with a carbon filter to limit the smell.

In most cases your plant should be around 2 to 3 inches tall with 2 to 3 sets of leaves including the cotyledons (seed leaves which are rounded). Results may vary but it would greatly depend on the quality of your seeds, the soil you’re germinating in and the quality of the light they’re receiving.

So how do you know when it’s time to harvest? The telltale sign of harvest-ready weed is when the hairs of the plant, or pistils, have fully darkened and curled in.
