Is a Pegasus scientifically possible?

It just isn’t very likely that something as big as a horse is somehow not being noticed and that no one has found any bones or fossils of them. A flying horse like Pegasus is probably purely wishful thinking. Can horses with wings exist? Well it’s extremely unlikely, but not impossible.

Can you ride Pegasus?

A pegasus is one of the more heavy metal methods of transportation. They’re not just horses—they’re horses with wings. But a pegasus is also gentle. They’re companions as much as they’re your ride and can provide comfort when the going gets tough.

How big would a Pegasus wings have to be?

If Pegasus was the same size and weight as a regular horse, the students suggest that a minimum wing size of roughly eight meters squared would be needed for flight – and if the wings were the same width as Pegasus’s body length (roughly 1.5m) this would give a tip to tip wing-span longer than a double decker bus.

Sadly, science is against this dream. According an article in Yale Scientific, “it is mathematically impossible for humans to fly like birds.” For one, the wings — both span and strength — are in balance with a bird’s body size. Thus, an average adult male human would need a wingspan of at least 6.7 meters to fly.

Can horses fly with wings?

No. The existence of a winged, flying horse is impossible; there is not enough room in a horse’s body to hold the muscles needed to operate its wings powerfully enough to fly.

Humans will never fly by flapping our arms with wings attached, says Mark Drela, Terry J. The arms and chest of a human do not have anywhere near enough muscle mass to provide the necessary power. And it’s unlikely that we will achieve flight by flapping wings powered by our legs, Drela says.

Can human beings fly without wings?

And now, scientists have determined that we never will: it is mathematically impossible for humans to fly like birds. Thus, an average adult male human would need a wingspan of at least 6.7 meters to fly. This calculation does not even take into account that these wings themselves would be too heavy to function.

What if Pegasus had been real?

This would mean that if Pegasus had indeed been real, he would have had to experience a serious growth spurt in order to fly, a growth spurt equivalent to Dr Bruce Banner turning into the Incredible Hulk. I guess they ‘backed the wrong horse’?
