How long does it take to get good at classical piano?

If you want to be a professional classical performer, you’re looking at a minimum of 10 to 15 years of concentrated study with a master teacher, and hours of practice every day. Most people who want to play for their own enjoyment can get great results within three to five years of study and practice.

How do you become a classically pianist?

To be Classically trained pianist is having been learning from about age 6/7. If you have completed all your Trinity or Royal Scools grades. Then you will be Classically trained. One can also enter Performance Exams and Licentiates etc.

Can I teach myself classical piano?

No. You might be able to teach yourself how to play a few things, but you cannot become a classical pianist without formal tuition in music theory, score reading, performance and familiarisation with the repertoire.
