How did Boromir feel about Aragorn?

Posted on August 31, 2022 by Author

How did Boromir feel about Aragorn?

Boromir didn’t hate Aragorn, but he didn’t like the thought that there would be a king in Gondor. So it wasn’t that Boromir disliked Aragorn, it was that he disliked Aragorn being king. Boromir is the son of Denethor. He trusts and is loyal to his father more than anyone else.

What would have happened if Boromir lived?

Had Boromir lived, there would have been no use for the character in the story. An analogy would be Thorin’s death in The Hobbit. Without it, he would have just seemed like any epic hero. The reader needed to understand that power corrupts, and how something as vain as the Arkenstone could lead to death.

Why did Boromir call Aragorn his king?

He might have accepted that Aragorn had the willpower to resist the ring, while Boromir did not, and that this was a sign of Aragorn (moral & dunedain bloodline) superiority. It is therefore logical that Boromir accepted that Aragorn had both the military skill, and the “right” to be leader of Gondor.

How long would Boromir have lived?

So Boromir, barring accident or injury, would likely have lived to 120 years. That is a good long life for a man of Numenorean blood at the beginning of the Fourth Age. This comes, perhaps, from the elvish influence on his mother’s side, as well as from the purity of the line of the House of Stewards.

Who ruled Gondor before Aragorn?

Eärnur
Eärnur was the thirty-third and last King of Gondor until the restoration of the monarchy with Aragorn II Elessar. He took the throne upon the death of his father Eärnil II in TA 2043, and after his disappearance the Stewards of Gondor ruled in his name for many generations.

Who would win Boromir and Aragorn?

Anduril would cleave right through Boromir, just as easily as it does everything else. In the end, I think Aragorn would win 7/10 fights without Anduril. Boromir would have to get pretty luck to take Aragorn out. With Anduril, Aragorn would easily sweep 9.5/10 fights.

Why did Aragorn go with Boromir?

“But lore wanes in Gondor, Boromir, if in the city of those who once were wise they now speak evil of Lothlórien […] only evil need fear it, or those who bring some evil with them.” [Aragorn’s] own plan, while Gandalf remained with them, had been to go with Boromir, and with his sword help to deliver Gondor.

What did Boromir say when he was dying?

The warrior collapses next to a tree and is soon found by Aragorn, dying from his wounds. Aragorn knelt beside him. Boromir opened his eyes and strove to speak. At last slow words came. ‘I tried to take the Ring from Frodo,’ he said. ‘I am sorry. I have paid.’ His glance strayed to his fallen enemies, twenty at least lay there.

Does Boromir get last rites in The Hobbit?

Hearing Aragorn’s words, Boromir is able to smile and die in peace. The only element of last rites missing from this scene is the Eucharist. When given to a dying Catholic, this sacrament is called “viaticum,” Latin for “provision for a journey.”

What is Boromir’s argument at the Council of Elrond?

Present at the Council of Elrond, Boromir argues for the men of Gondor to take the Ring and wield its power against Sauron. He is reluctant to believe Elrond and Gandalf ’s advice that the Ring cannot be controlled by any but Sauron.
