How many monitors can the latitude E7240 support on dock?

The Latitude E7240 uses an Intel HD Graphics 4400 GPU and so can support up to 3 independent displays, not on dock. In order to use both the onboard screen and 2 external displays both the HDMI and MiniDisplayPort will need to be connected to external displays.

Can I use an external GPU with my Dell Inspiron laptop?

Dell officially supports external GPUs only on Alienware notebooks – even XPS models with thunderbolt ports (which your Inspiron doesn’t have) are hit or miss for external GPUs.

Should I get an eGPU with a discrete GPU?

From the limited amount I’ve read about eGPUs, having a discrete GPU in the system can make it more complicated to get the eGPU to accelerate content on the built-in panel. If you just want to use the eGPU with displays physically connected to the eGPU itself, then no worries, but otherwise it can become problematic.

Is there a way to use an external GPU?
