To do a second residency you cannot go through ERAS. When you are a resident your paycheck comes from medicare mostly. They only pay for one residency. However, if you do a second residency that is longer than the first one, i.e. 3 yrs OB then do a 4 yr Surg residency, medicare will pay for the other year.
