Can teachers tell you what to do?

A teacher can’t force you to do anything in a classroom. Your actions may result in the instructor removing you from the class or punishing you for your refusal, but the teacher, school and district don’t have the authority to make you do something you don’t want to do.

Do teachers actually care about students?

Once you become a teacher, you care, not just about education, but about your students’ education. Great teachers care about their students. They want them to succeed and are committed to helping them achieve their goals. Moreover, teachers care about their students’ happiness, well-being and life beyond the classroom.

Teachers not only dislike but hate such students. Those can either be students in the same class or maybe their juniors. Regardless, this bad habit is one thing that teachers won’t tolerate. If gum were allowed in school, students wouldn’t feel the need to be sneaky and stick it on furniture. Some teachers feel it is rude to chew gum while a student is presenting.

Why is it important for teachers to ask questions in class?

It increases student engagement with the lesson – Teaching is not a one way process where you talk at students and they listen passively. A good teacher knows that learning happens when both she and the student are actively participating in the lesson. Asking questions (the right ones) increases student engagement.

Do your students really like you as a teacher?

As a teacher, you had better care whether or not your students like you. Teaching is often more about relationships than it is about teaching itself. If your students do not like you or trust you, you will not be able to maximize the time you have with them.  Teaching is about giving and taking.
